Creating a personal academic website can be beneficial. This will appear in searches and is entirely under your control. Perhaps most importantly, we are often permitted to upload pdf’s of the accepted author’s version of publications even when there is an embargo on institutional repositories or ResearchGate, etc. Google Scholar will then find these pdf’s and link to them. I also use my website as a place from which to access various profiles and resources, keeping everything together in one place.
I created my website using this tutorial written by Dan Quintana. I actually used his Twitter thread (see below for updted version), but I’m sure the blog may be easier to follow.
